High work rate Potato Ridger Perfect growing conditions, effective weed control, and high working rates are possible with a new potato ridger / inter-row cultivator launched by Landquip, the Tuberidge. Tuberidge - a British product - is available in 2, 3, and 4 row configurations plus a 6 row hydraulic folding version. The ridger bodies are carried on a 120mm square tool bar fitted with a heavy duty headstock with Cat II linkage. Each ridger body consists of two 20"/508mm diameter discs mounted on alternately short (80cm) and long (120cm) carriers, which enable the discs to be staggered to give working overlap and clearance to prevent stones jamming between the discs. Infinite working pressure control is incorporated into each ridger unit, while each disc has variable width, swivel, and tilt adjustment to suit varying soil conditions, forward speed, different baulk widths, and desired ridge shape. Ridger bodies can be quickly and simply adjusted for varying row widths by sliding the carriers along the tool bar and securing them in place. Adjustment is possible between 28"-36" / 711mm-914mm. Inter-row cultivation ahead of the discs controls weeds and ensures a good tilth is produced. The cultivation units consist of pivoting tine carriers that can be adjusted to alter working depth and pressure. 3 tines (5 optional) with replaceable points are mounted on these carriers, while wheel track eradicators are offered on the front of the tool bar directly behind the rear tractor wheels. Fully adjustable ridge harrows can also be fitted to the disc carriers in front of and/or behind the discs. The specially designed spring tines - adjustable for working pressure and angle - weed and shape the top of the ridge to allow rain or irrigation to penetrate more readily rather than washing away soil from the sides of the ridge. Heavy duty 6"/150mm wide, 16"/400mm diameter depth control wheels incorporate a 'toe-in' adjustment and anti-slide ribs to give perfect tracking even on sloping ground. All bearings on depth wheels and discs are sealed to prevent soil ingression. The high clearance of the Tuberidge allows it to be used throughout the potato growing season right up to the flowering stage without fear of plant damage. Regular use keeps weeds under control for organic production or chemical reduction and makes green potatoes a thing of the past. The design and adjustment of the discs plus the inter-row cultivators help to minimise clod formation and provide a good tilth to the soil being placed on the ridge, thereby creating perfect growing and harvesting conditions. Work rates of up to 75 acres per day are possible with the 4-row model working in a crop planted on 36"/914mm rows. Summary of Tuberidge Features Ridger Heavy duty headstock (Cat II linkage) and 120mm square tool bar for row widths of 28", 30", 32", 34" and 36". Alternately, short/long disc carriers incorporating independent working pressure and equipped with 20" discs each with individual width swivel and tilt adjustments. Inter-row Cultivator As above, with cultivator assemblies each with independent variable working pressure adjustment, 3 tines (5 optional) with replaceable points, infinitely adjustable for working depth. Weeder As above, with either front and/or rear weeder assemblies that attach to the disc carriers. Each assembly is fitted with special spring weeding tines and has individual variable working pressure. Wheels Heavy duty steel depth/steerage wheels (6"/150mm wide, 16"/400mm diameter).
